Germany x Reader [Bittersweet Goodbyes]

    With a smile on your face you walked to your boyfriend Ludwig's house. You really loved the blonde German, and you were so happy when he asked you out. You were happy with him and you felt he was happy with you.
    The sun was bright with a few collecting clouds, but you weren't worried about the rain. You kept up your merry walk when you spotted Ludwig walking toward you.
    "Hi, Luddy!" You called with a wave. He looked up at you, stopping in his tracks. His face looked a little sad and tired, and you wondered why. Has he not been getting enough sleep?
    "(Name), I was just coming to talk to you." He said quietly.
    "Really? What about?" You asked with a small smile.
    "Us."
    Your smile dropped. "What about us?"
    He sighed, running his fingers through his slicked back blonde hair. "(Name), I think we should break up." He said.
    "What? Why?" You asked. "Did I do something? I'm sorry, Ludwig. I'll stop calling you Luddy if you want," You tried to figure out what went wrong. Ludwig sighed again.
    "No, (Name), it's not you. You didn't do anything. I think it's me." He explained. "I just. . . I think you and I aren't a good match. We don't have much in common, and it's difficult for us to be alone. All our dates have been double dates." Now that you thought about it, he was right. You two seemed to fall into a state of awkwardness when you were alone together. You both have also never gone on a date with just the two of you. You were always taking out friends.
    "But. . ." You looked at the ground. "We could work on it. . .or something. . ." Even now, when the two of you actually had a topic to talk about, you found the words dying in your throat. Ludwig shook his head.
    "You could find better." He said softly. "Goodbye, (Name), take care of yourself." And with those parting words, he left.
    You stared after him, hoping that it was a prank or joke or that you would wake up in your bed. But you knew Ludwig would never joke like this, and you had already woken up this morning.
    You stared at the ground for a while, you didn't know how long, and you looked up once the rain began to fall. With a sigh, you forced your tears down and turned to walk home.
    It wasn't long until you were soaked, but you didn't care. You were walking slowly, trying to cope with what happened. The man you were happy with wasn't happy with you. Maybe it was you, not him. You'd never know now, so what was the use in thinking about it?
    When you got home, you immediately went to take a hot shower, hoping it would make you feel better.
    It didn't.
    After that, you just laid in your bed. You couldn't stop thinking about everything, and your hurt feelings wouldn't go away. You went to sleep after that, hoping you'd feel better in the morning.

    A month later and you were walking around to clear your head. You'd gotten over the break up mostly, but sometimes it came out from the depths of your mind and you'd start to feel bad again. Today was one of those days.
    You sat on a park bench with a sigh, brushing your hair with your fingers. You glanced up at faint laughter, but froze at the sight before you.
    Ludwig walked hand in hand with another girl. She was grinning widely, and he was smiling as well. You never got Ludwig to smile while the two of you were together. Maybe he'd snort a little at your jokes, but he wouldn't smile like that. Your heart clenched painfully again. Your eyes watered as they disappeared into a restaurant together. A date most likely.
    Swallowing your tears, you stood up and walked back home.
    He moved on.
    It was time for you to as well.
