You grabbed one more iron pickaxe before you stepped out of your cozy oak wood house, ready for a day of mining.

There was a cave near your house that you'd been wanting to explore, but you never found the time due to the time it took to settle into your home and collect the necessary resources for comfortable living. Now that you had some free time, you had thouroughly prepped for a cave adventure. You had many stone picks and three iron ones, a few iron swords, extra stone and wood blocks, food, and lots of torches. You were set.

With a skip in your step you made your way through the forest. You had memorized the path since you wanted to keep the cave in mind. It seemed deep and you had a good feeling about what resided in there. Of course, you knew there were many dangers as well. Mobs, lava, getting lost, all of those posibilities were bound to come up, but you were ready for anything.

It wasn't too long of a walk and in no time you had arrived. The cave went down several blocks before leveling out, and iron ore was visible from where you stood. With a deep breath and a pounding heart, you stepped down into the darkness.

Placing a torch, you pulled out a pick and got to mining, pocketing five iron ore before you headed deeper. Fear tried to speak up from the back of your mind, but you pushed it down so you weren't scaring yourself.

As you went you placed torches and collected everything you saw, whether it be coal or lapis lazuli. You were very thankful you hadn't ran into any mobs yet, just an occasional harmless bat. Your two stone swords would surely do nothing to them.

The path you were taking suddenly cut off, leaving you on a ledge that opened up into a wide space. You were in awe, staring out at the large cavern. Lava poured into a pool at the far right corner, illuminating most of the area. Water trickled toward your left, and as you glanced around you saw gold, redstone, and a lot of iron.

"Jackpot." You said, pulling out some cobblestone and using it to make yourself makeshift stairs. Once you hit the bottom you were off, mining everything in your sight. Your inventory was over half way full, however, so you decided that after collecting what was in the cavern you'd go home and place it all in your chests. It had been a while anyways, and you wanted to return home before dark.

Wiping the sweat on your forhead, you gathered up the last of the redstone, slipping it into your inventory. You looked around one last time to be sure you hadn't missed anything when something shimmering caught your eye.

You turned to your right and gasped. Diamonds!

"No way!" You squealed and rushed over, pulling out your iron pick. You quickly and carefully mined them, pocketing four of the gorgeous blue stones. "This is awesome!"

As you were reveling in your find, a sudden eerie sound echoed from deep within the cave, leaving you with a jumping heart and instantly crushing your joy.

You slowly looked around, your gaze traveling toward the roof of the cavern. All that was heard was your own breathing and the trickle of the water.

Swallowing, you glanced at an opening to a path that branched off from the area you were in. It was pitch black there and gave off an ominous feeling, but you couldn't tear your eyes away. You blinked when you thought you saw something move.

Carefully, you backed away, not wanting to turn around in case something were to attack you. You felt as though you were suddenly trapped, and all you wanted to do was get out of there.

Turning swiftly, you made to dash toward your staircase only to see a zombie boy limping toward you, arms raised and mouth hanging open.

With a shriek, you stumbled and turned around just to see a skeleton boy gazing at you with deep red eyes. You fumbled for your sword, managing to get it out and hold it up. The skeleton took his time readying an arrow into his bow, and you whirled back and forth between the skeleton and the zombie. You were sure if you attacked one, the other would get you.

Your fear grew larger as you backed away from both mobs, eyes flicking back and forth with your heart racing. The zombie boy groaned, lumbering toward you. You had completely disregarded the skeleton in order to swing at the zombie in warning. He continued to advance, however, forcing you to back up.

Your back hit cold, hard stone and your heart skipped a beat. You were trapped.

You screamed again as the zombie was almost upon you. Your stone sword would do barely anything to him. This was it, you weren't going to make it.

Suddenly, the zombie froze for a second and collapsed onto the ground just a foot from you. With heavy breaths you looked down upon the corpse, noticing the arrow cleanly shot into the back of his head.

You trembled as you glanced up at the skeleton, who eyed the dead mob boredly before smoothly putting away his bow. Another deep sound resonated through the cave and you squeezed your eyes shut as it struck another bolt of fear through you.

"You're fine now." A velvety voice said to you. "They're just cave noises."

You opened your eyes to look at the skeleton boy. He was staring at you, red eyes dull and white hair falling across his forhead.

Exhaling softly, you carefully stepped around the body, hesitating before walking up to the skeleton. He was a few inches taller than you and somewhat lanky, wearing simple black and white clothing that resembled bones.

"Th-thank you for saving me.." You said softly. You glanced around once more, still uneasy.

"No problem. Come on, I'll take you out." He grasped your hand lightly before pulling you toward the staircase. You allowed him to lead you, taking one last glance at the dead zombie before it disappeared behind the ledge.

Your cheeks had turned a bit red after the skeleton hadn't let go of it, keeping a comforting grip on it. You had put away your sword though your heart hadn't settled, and you stayed close to him as he followed your trail of torches.

It didn't take too long to get out of the cave, but by the time the entrance was within view you noticed the sun was setting, casting a scarlet shadow across the sky.

The skeleton looked around before he turned his gaze to you. "Where's your house?"

You bit your lip, pointing to your left. He nodded, never once letting go of your hand as he walked toward your house.

Once the building was in view, you let out a small sigh of relief. The sun had completely set by now, and thankfully no mobs had come near your house.

"Thank you again," You said quietly to the skeleton boy. He nodded, still holding your hand. It was like he knew you still had more to say.

"Umm," You hesitated, shifting your weight. He calmly gazed at you, giving away no emotion. "Will I... see you again?" You asked.

He let go of your hand in order to cup your cheeks. You felt fire consume your face as his cool lips met your forhead. As he pulled away you looked up at him, cheeks still burning.

"Yeah, you will." He told you, offering a small half smile.

Those words made your heart soar and you didn't feel so alone anymore knowing that you would get to see him again.

You parted ways, stepping inside as he waved to you and walked off into the forest. You sighed softly, smiling after his retreating figure.

As you organized your findings into your chests, you couldn't get him off your mind. You hoped you'd see him again soon.

Little did you know, the same thing was happening to him at that moment. You were all he could think about.

You were all he wanted to think about.
